It was such a great fight for Russian film Tesnota to win the best film award at the 2nd Malaysia International Film Festival & Malaysia Golden Global Awards held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on February 25 to March 2.

The Jury team were composed of: Jury President – Brillante Mendoza (Philippines); Tran Anh Hung (France / Vietnam); Patrick Tam (Hong Kong); Naomi Kawase (Japan); Suhasini Maniratnam (India); Lee Leih (Taiwan) and Dain Said (Malaysia).

With the jury's decision there are deserving winners but are not in the nominees. In the end, it was still the juries unanimous decision

Best Film: Tesnota (Russia)

Best Director: Vivian Qu (Angels Wear White, China/France)

Best New Director: Kantemir Balagov (Tesnota, Russia)

Best Actor: Hamed Behdad (Blockage, Iran)

Best Actress: Darya Zhovnar (Tesnota, Russia)

The Best Supporting Actor: Artem Cipin (Tesnota, Russia)

The Best Supporting Actress: Zhou Mei Jun (Angels Wear White, China/France)

Best Screenplay: Vivian Qu (Angels Wear White, China/France)

Best Cinematography: Anggi Frisca (The Seen And Unseen, Indonesia/Netherlands/Australia/Qatar)

Lifetime Achievement Award: Ann Hui (Hong Kong)

New Hope Award: A Letter To The President (Afghanistan)

The Audience Choice Award: Shuttle Life (Malaysia)
