HISTORY® also honours Filipino luminaries for their significant contribution to the nation’s life and culture at the inaugural HISTORY Maker Awards 2017.
MANILA, 16th August 2017: HISTORY Con 2017, Manila’s biggest entertainment convention saw a record-breaking attendance with over 68,800 people who joined popular HISTORY® and FYI® celebrities at the World Trade Centre Manila from 10th to 13th August. The star-studded extravaganza was ignited by Corey Harrison (Pawn Stars), “Horny” Mike Henry (Counting Cars), Danielle Colby (The Pickers), Ryu Lim (Forged In Fire), Jaime Dempsey (Ride N’ Seek), Justin Mott (Photo Face-off), Phoemela Baranda (Celebrity Car Wars), John Weisbarth and Zack Giffin (Tiny House Nation), and Adam Liaw (Destination Flavour).
Precluding the official closing ceremony, as part of HISTORY’s 10th anniversary celebration in Asia, Filipino luminaries were honoured for their significant contributions to the nation’s life and culture with the inaugural HISTORY Maker Awards. The award ceremony was ignited with the stellar attendance of the awardees, namely Ryan Cayabyab, Brillante Mendoza, Romi Garduce, Reinabelle Reyes, Anne Curtis, members of the Himalayan Adventure Team, Illac Diaz, Hidilyn Diaz, and Pia Wurtzbach.

HISTORY Con 2017, the world-class entertainment convention was brought to life in Manila for the second year, which housed a host of exhibitions and activities for all ages and interests, from automotive fans and aspiring chefs to history buffs and sports enthusiasts, saw thousands thronging to see their favourite HISTORY® and FYI® celebrities; including professional freestyle basketball dunker Jordan Kilaganon, the world’s most extraordinary professional competitive eater Takeru Kobayashi, as well as Captain of the U.S. Navy and NASA Astronaut Barry E. Willmore.
Over the course of four days, visitors availed themselves of the various unique zones including a range of outdoor activities. Special highlights included the largest automotive display of cars and motorbikes, massive vintage and antiques collections, the comic strip with amazing display and special collectibles of superheroes, toys and comics, and more. Fans got up close and personal with their favourite celebrities through exclusive talks, as well as seeing their respective celebrities in action such as the legendary motorcade rally, ‘live’ car airbrushing showcase, the test of the blades demonstration, and more.
Last but least, the exclusive FYI Home & Living Fair brought FYI international celebrities and the nation’s critically acclaimed chefs, creators and innovators together on an impressive showcase of the artistic world of creativity and craft.
In partnership with the Liter of Light, FYI also conducted complimentary workshops to encourage visitors to learn how to make a solar lamp as part of the social movement to “Live-Love-Light-UP” every household in the Philippines. Every lamp made at the fair will be donated in their name to social communities in need across the Philippines.
