Coleen Garcia and Charice Pempengco, who now goes by the stage name Jake Zyrus, are among the people mentioned by “It’s Showtime” host Billy Crawford during a short interview in a press conference on Aug. 24, Thursday, at Full Belly Kraft Kitchen in Quezon City. The press conference was for Crawford’s upcoming “Soul Brothers” concert with Jay R and Kris Lawrence.
I asked Crawford when or how he realized that Garcia was the one. He said after being in a relationship with his now fiancée with about a year and a half, he realized that she is one strong woman who is also a wonderful one.

When asked to give a general advice on love, Crawford simply said if you love someone, be honest and give it 100 percent. He added that it is important to put God as the center of your relationship.
Since Crawford is one of the Filipino artists who managed to conquer the music industry internationally, I asked him what he thought Filipinos have that make them excel in music. He pointed out that Filipinos enjoy arts in general so it translates to worldwide dominance not only in music but also in acting.
Crawford went on to enumerate artists like him who conquered the international stage, namely Zyrus, Arnel Pineda, apl.de.ap of Black Eyed Peas, Gary Valenciano and Martin Nievera. I then asked him to give his thoughts on the people who do not understand the current situation of Zyrus, who has undergone mastectomy and is taking hormone injections for his transition.
“Well, to be honest with you, I myself don’t really understand, because I’m not, you know, I don’t fully understand because I’m not in her… or his shoes,” Crawford said. Apparently, the “It’s Showtime” host is also not used to referring to Zyrus with the male pronoun.
On the other hand, Crawford pointed out that Zyrus is blessed with music. He added that the “Pyramid” hit maker is a great person.
Several male guest performers including Daryl Ong and Sam Concepcion will join Crawford, Jay R and Lawrence at their “Soul Brothers” concert on Sept. 15 at 8 p.m. at the KIA Theatre in Quezon City. Joining are. Watch my interview with Crawford here:
