Among the actors in the ensemble cast of Brillante Mendoza’s upcoming series titled “AMO” are Baron Geisler and Kiko Matos. The series is a collaboration between TV5 and the 2009 Cannes Film Festival Best Director.

Details about Geisler and Matos’s respective roles have yet to be revealed. However, fans can get hints from the exclusive photos obtained by The Web Magazine.

In June 2016, Geisler and Matos battled it out in a URCC showdown, which ended in a draw. A year later, the two crossed paths at a press conference where ONE Championship fighter Mark “Mugen” Striegl and Matos were announced to have joined URCC, as confirmed by the organization’s president Alvin Aguilar, Manila Bulletin reported.

Set to premiere on TV5 on Sept. 20, “AMO” marks the first time Matos was directed by Mendoza. Geisler, on the other hand, worked with the critically acclaimed director in the films “Sapi” in 2013 and “Ma’ Rosa” in 2016.

The cast of “AMO” is led by Derek Ramsay, Allen Dizon, Felix Roco and Vince Rillon. Roco and Rillon co-starred with Geisler in “Ma’ Rosa.”

Included in the guest cast of the TV5 series are Angela Cortez, Alvin Anson, Mark Dionisio, Neil Perez and Willy Quinto. Perez is Mister International 2014 while Quinto is Gwapulis 2016 grand winner.

Written by "Ma' Rosa" writer Troy Espiritu, "AMO" is a 12-part series about the illegal drug trade in the Philippines. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Mendoza said it was necessary to be careful with the stories included in the series considering the children who will be watching.

In the same interview, Mendoza was asked about the controversial killings in the Philippines during the Rodrigo Duterte administration. The director noted that only those who have personal experience of what is happening, such as those who know people killed by criminals or saved by the police, can really understand the situation.
