Adding to the lineup of award-winning director Brillante Mendoza’s made for TV movies on TV5 is another brave masterpiece entitled PANATA.

This Brillante Mendoza Presents episode takes us back to the early years of Martial Law set in the province of Marinduque. PANATA gives the audience a glimpse of the religious fervor of Filipinos depicted through one of the most popular Lenten rites -  the Moriones.

TV5 and Director Brillante Mendoza unveiled his latest masterpiece Brillante Mendoza Presents: Panata during the May 17 press conference at Director’s Club in Mega Fashion Hall of SM Megamall.

Aside from religion, Panata shows a deeper story about the struggles of a family who waits for the father’s return and a son’s quest for what he truly believes in. It introduces us to Mario, a mask maker and a son who while waiting for his father’s return  is exposed to a different path towards freedom and nationalism.  Panata is another brave television masterpiece intended for the discerning audience that’s relevant to most Filipinos who lived during the Martial Law era.
