Mary Jane Santa Ana Guck, 53, who is professionally known as Jaclyn Jose, is someone actors should ask advice from not only about acting but also about relationships. She is the first Southeast Asian to win Cannes Film Festival Best Actress and is mother to two children.
After "Alyas Robinhood," Jose will star in “D’ Originals” as Josie Magpayo, a housewife who finds out that her husband for 25 years, Lando Magpayo (Jestoni Alarcon), has a mistress named Yvette Binetez (Katrina Halili). During the blog conference for the new GMA 7 show on
April 5, Tuesday, at GMA Network Center, Quezon City, the cast members were asked what they would do if they found out that their partner was cheating.
Jose is a woman who does not allow herself to be cheated on. She describes herself as a one-man woman so she deserves to be treated fairly by a one-woman man.
“But I’m a fighter,” Jose said. “I can survive without man.”
At this point in Jose’s life, it appears that she could not ask for more. She said, “A good soldier must know when to surrender and I am surrendering. I’m okay with my life.”
“I have my children,” the actress added. “I have my granddaughter.”
On June 25, 1990, Jose gave birth to Andrea Nicole Guck Eigenmann. The latter, who is professionally known as Andi Eigenmann, gave birth to her daughter Adrianna Gabrielle Eigenmann on Nov. 23, 2011.
On June 15, 2001, Jose gave birth to her son Gwen Garimond Ilagan Guck. Andi’s father is the late actor Mark Gil while Gwen’s father is Kenneth Ilagan, the guitarist of the rock band The Dawn.
In 2016, Jose and Andi played mother and daughter in Brillante Mendoza’s “Ma’ Rosa.” After winning 2016 Cannes Film Festival Best Actress, Jose starred in several GMA7 shows such as “A1 Ko Sa’yo” and “Alyas Robinhood,” which ended on Feb. 24.
Joining Jose, Alarcon and Halili in the cast of “D’ Originals” are LJ Reyes, Kim Domingo, Meg Imperial, Lovely Abella, Mark Herras, Archie Alemania, Arny Ross, Elyson de Dios, Mikoy Morales and Chlaui Malayao. Directed by Adolf Alix Jr., the new drama-comedy show will premiere on GMA 7 on April 17 at 4:30 p.m.
