Mr. Pure Energy Has Message to Young People

Gary Valenciano headlined the “Artists for Mar” event at the Mesa Filipino Moderne restaurant at Tomas Morato Ave. cor. Scout Fernandez in Quezon City on May 3, Tuesday. The OPM legend dubbed Mr. Pure Energy was joined by more than 20 actors and singers supporting Mar Roxas, one of the five 2016 Philippine presidential candidates.

In an interview during the event, Valenciano was asked to give a message to the young people particularly about his choice to support Roxas. He also expressed his intention to play a role as a spiritual adviser to the next President of the Philippines.

Valenciano explained, “The reason why I go for Mar, and for the young people, is because, though you may not see what is going on on the outside, and the foundations of what the Philippines is supposed to be to the rest of the world, it's already started. But it didn't start with a big jump. It started small.”

“I'm hoping and I'm praying I can play a role maybe as an adviser that can really convict our leader to move toward that direction, not for us, but for your generation,” Valenciano said. “That's why I say, it would be Mar.”

In addition, Valenciano noted that he is fighting not for himself but for the young people who are “going to carry on whatever has been started today.” As a piece of advice to the young people, he said, “Pray first and then make a choice.”
