Happy Holidays to all!

Get to know the MMFF New Wave 2014 Finalists.

The 2014 finalists were formally presented last November 25 during the MMFF New Wave 5th Anniversary Dinner hosted by the Passion Restaurant, Resorts World.

This year’s entries will be shown at the Glorietta 4 and SM Megamall cinemas from December 17 to 24, 2014.

Zig Dulay’s M. (Mother’s Maiden Name) is a familiar-but-unusual story about the getting-to-know relationship of a mother and son. This is Dulay’s second full feature film.

Ato Bautista, known for his films Palitan and an episode of Cinco, directed the entry Gemini, about a woman who is being tormented by her demons because of sins she and her twin committed years ago.

Jason Paul Laxamana’s Magkakabaung was inspired by the Philippines’ casket capital, Santo Tomas Pampanga. Lacsamana previously directed Babagwa (The Spider’s Lair) this year.

Maratabat is Arlyn dela Cruz’s entry which was inspired by her journey as a journalist. It depicts warring clans and the quest for justice.

Diane Ventura’s Mulat shares the story of Sam, a girl who dreams of finding her true love as she struggles to live a normal life despite her schizophrenic tendencies.

In continuation of the series of events celebrating the Metro Manila Film Festival New Wave Section for independent, student filmmakers, and animators, the MMFF held a Press Conference at the Sequoia Hotel in Quezon City.

Atty. Francis Tolentino, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Chairman and MMFF Overall Chairman proudly presented this year’s finalists, particularly praising the slate of this year’s full feature producers and directors.
