Hard-hitting public servant, BIR Commissioner Kim Henares will answer issues thrown to her by taxpayers in Friday’s (September 5) episode of TV5’s social reality talk show Face The People.
Known as one of the fearless women in the government today, BIR Commissioner Henares asserts that taxes are collected so that public services are delivered. The public servant also explained that she’s just doing her job as stated in the laws of the country: “Huwag ako ang sisihin niyo kundi yung mga congressmen at mga senador na gumagawa ng batas na ito” added Henares.
However, TV and radio personality Benj Felipe asserts that the middle class should not be taxed heavily: “Bakit kaming mga uring manggagawa ang dapat magdusa sa pagbabayad ng buwis kung hindi ninyo kayang habulin ang mayayamang nasa itaas at yung mga nasa ibaba”.
Small-time entrepreneurs Merly Castro (who owns a shop of imported second-hand goods/ “ukay-ukay”) and Janet Hidalgo (who owns a small sari-sari store) were also emotional to face the internal revenue chief. Lamenting how their minute earnings are the only what gets them through life, the women asked: “May mga anak kaming pinapaaral at kakarampot lang ang kinikita ng aming mga mister bilang construction worker. Paano na ang kinabukasan namin?”
Will Henares hear the pleas of the people or will she stand by the law and her principles? Find out on Face The People, 10:15AM onTV5!
