At the Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum opening, Filipino filmmaker Brillante Mendoza is proud and honored to present to different producers his latest documentary entry - Gay Messiah.

Gay Messiah is a story of a Filipino gay who embodies everything  that the Roman Catholic Church denounces follows the footsteps of Jesus Christ.

Ferdinand Santos, commonly known as Pia stars as Jesus in the annual Lenten play of his district.

Producer Larry Castillo is aiming to reach an estimated budget of US$500,000 for this film. Mendoza's team is hopeful for additional funds and co producers. Despite having 16 films under his belt and receiving the Best Director award at the 2009 Cannes International Film Festival, the 52-year-old still has to seek funds to finance his projects.

He says that involves leaning on established relationships with investors, as well as finding new ones. Mendoza has been a regular participant of the Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF), which, runs  March 24-27.
