This province, together with the Mountaineering and Exploration Society of Adamson University will play host to the 28th Mountaineering Federation of the Philippines Incorporated (MFPI) Midyear Congress and Climb on October 23-26, 2013.
Gov. Junie E. Cua said the holding of the congress in Quirino will promote the province as a tourism destination with a totally different concept. “The activity aims to promote a development that is hinged on environmental protection as well explore economic and environmental benefits of sustainable tourism,” Cua said. He likewise said that once the activity will be realized, it can provide the necessary push for the achievement of the province’s vision to develop tourism as a support to agriculture. The governor said coordinative meetings are ongoing to finalize details and other pertinent matters to ensure the success of the national event in one of the highest mountain in the province, the Mt. Anacuao of Nagtipunan. Moreover, a training was held on Basic Mountaineering Course and Guideship which was attended by officials of the Philippine National Police, Philippine Red Cross, local government and other participants from national agencies.
