Controversial FHM Cover of Bela Padilla Went International

The international press became interested on the controversial sexy cover of Bela Padilla on FHM Philippines.

Aside from BBC News, the controversy about Bela Padilla's supposed cover photo on March issue of FHM Philippines was also picked up by other international newswires.

London's The Telegraph carried the news on its online version dated last Monday, February  27.

"FHM in the Philippines has apologised and pulled its March cover after complaints that the image of a fair-skinned actress surrounded by dark-skinned models was racist."

New York Daily News also posted a similar news item on its website last February 27.

"FHM Philippines magazine pulls its March cover featuring beauty Bela Padilla after 'racism' outcry."

The cover photo showed the 20-year-old Kapuso actress in a pink sexy bikini surrounded by black female models with the caption below: "Bela Padilla: Stepping Out Of The Shadows."

Online debate started when FHM Philippines uploaded its supposed March 2012 cover photo on their Facebook fan page last weekend.
Due to the outpour of negative reactions from the readers, FHM Philippines decided to "re-examine the cover so that we could put into context its execution and assuage the concerns of our readers and non-readers as well who've weighed in on the issue."

Its official statement about the issue also included a public apology, which reads:
We took all the points into consideration and have decided to take the side of sensitivity.

When FHM hits the stands in March it will have a different cover. We deem this to be the most prudent move in the light of the confusion over the previous cover execution.

We apologize and thank those who have raised their points. We apologize to Bela Padilla for any distress this may have caused her.

In our pursuit to come up with edgier covers, we will strive to be more sensitive next time.

TV5's Valiente | Must Watch New Episodes

Remarkable story of a mother’s love in GMA’s ‘Hiram na Puso’

Hiram na Puso is aheart-warming story of a loving mother, who takes all risks to save her daughter from death only to be abandoned by the same daughter after she literally had a change of heart.  Soon, the said mother realizes that this is the dire consequence of one irreversible mistake she committed in the past.

Starring Kris Bernal, Mark Herras, Polo Ravales, Bela Padilla with Gardo Versoza, Ayen Laurel, Candy Pangilinan, Ana Marin, Marc Acueza, Wynwyn Marquez and Ms. Gina Alajar, Hiram na Puso is a creatively-crafted drama series that will boldly pique every viewer’s conscience, pitting the ends versus the means, malice versus the motive.

Gina Alajar plays the role of Zeny, a nursing student whose life gets complicated when she gets impregnated by her boyfriend who subsequently leaves her.  She gives birth to twins, but unfortunately one of them had a heart complication and needed immediate operation.  But Zeny couldn’t afford the cost of the operation, and so, she was left without a choice but to give up the healthier baby so she can save the ailing one.  The ailing child survived and Zeny  named her “Lira” (Kris Bernal).

Eighteen years later, Zeny -- now a nurse -- discovers that Lira’s heart condition has recurred and her daughter is, for the second time, on the brink of death.  The only thing that could save her is a heart transplant. But Zeny has no connections.  One night, Zeny becomes a witness to a tragic hit-and-run accident. She helps the victim, Angeline, who is almost her daughter’s age.  For a second, she thought that she’s found a “donor” for her daughter’s heart transplant, but that would only be possible if she lets the victim die.

She shilly-shallies at first, but moved by her conscience, she decides to take the victim to a nearby hospital.  But it’s too late; the victim is already ‘clinically dead.’  Although distraught by the demise of their daughter, the victim’s parents Leo and Roxanne (Gardo Versoza and Ayen Laurel) thanked Zeny for attempting to “save” Angeline. Learning of Lira’s ailment, they agreed to donate their daughter’s heart to Lira.  Zeny is filled with so much happiness following the success of her daughter’s operation.  But her joy will be short-lived.  She knew that her daughter survived at the expense of someone else’s daughter, and fate has its way of bringing back the balance.

Not long thereafter, Zeny observes strange things about Lira.  She seemed to have adopted not only the heart of her donor, but her personality, too.  What concerns Zeny more is that while Lira turns cold towards her, she also begins to develop affinity with Angeline’s parents.

Upon learning that Lira now has Angeline’s heart, the latter’s lover Prince (Mark Herras) stalks her and later falls in love with her.  But unknown to Prince, he is already stepping in the way of Lira’s friend Dennis (Polo Ravales) who secretly has feelings for her.  To complicate things further, Lira’s twin Vanessa (Bela Padilla) has been wanting to win the heart of Prince.

Zeny went up against her conscience to keep her daughter, but now she’s emotionally losing her.  Will she win her daughter back?

With the special participation of Krystal Reyes, Ehra Madrigal and Stef Prescott, Hiram na Puso is an original concept and story by Suzette Doctolero and is directed by Andoy Ranay.

The show also prides itself on its production team headed by Hazel Abonita (Program Manager) and Jojo Aleta (Executive Producer), and creative team composed of Jun Lana (Creative Director), Roy Iglesias (Creative Head), Des Garbes-Severino (Creative Consultant) and Suzette Doctolero (Head Writer).

Witness the unraveling of this remarkable story in Hiram na Puso, beginning March 5, on GMA’s Afternoon Prime.

Gerald Anderson Shocked When Sarah Geronimo Called Him "Babe"

Gerald Anderson revealed that his knees felt weak when he heard Sarah Geronimo call him "babe" recently.
The two went on a yacht date for Sarah G Live's pilot episode last Sunday.

During their videoke session, Sarah was leafing through a songbook when she suddenly blurted out, "Hanap lang ako, babe".

During the farewell press conference of Budoy earlier today, Gerald gave his reaction regarding this incident.

"Napanood n'yo naman na nagulat rin ako!
"Sa totoo lang, hindi ko po alam kung bakit nangyari yun. But siyempre, nakita n'yo na nagulat ako.
"Pero at the same time, kinilig rin ako. Nanghina ang tuhod ko nun.
"Siyempre, isang Sarah Geronimo at biglang tinawag kang 'babe,' Wow!"

Avida Towers Cebu | Sold out in just 18 months

CEBU PROVES ITSELF TO BE A ROBUST real estate market for Avida, as shown by buyers’ response to Avida Towers Cebu. Launched only in June 2010, units have been selling at a brisk pace—and now, in less than two years, all of 1,045 units of Avida Towers Cebu are now sold out.

“More than anything, we see the sell out of Avida Towers Cebu as a testament to the trust and confidence of Cebuanos in the Ayala brand. Ayala Land is an established developer in Cebu and with Avida being part of the Ayala Group, Cebuanos rightly believe that owning an Avida Towers Cebu unit is a sound investment.

Beyond the brand strength, we also see that the location, features and amenities offered by Avida Towers Cebu were well appreciated by our buyers. We are glad that our commitment to creating quality homes at affordable prices, which translated to Avida Towers Cebu has been received well and appreciated by the discerning Cebuano market who is keen on getting their money’s worth for every purchase,” said Mr. Apollo Tanco, Project Strategic Management Head of Avida Land for VISMIN.

Strategically located in Cebu’s most vibrant business and lifestyle hub that is Cebu I.T. Park, Avida Towers Cebu is designed and built with an integrated “Home, Office and Play Lifestyle” concept. It’s the perfect dream home for families that wish to have a complete quality living experience amidst the excitement of urban, cosmopolitan Cebu—while also enjoying features and amenities for recreation and relaxation, combined with the privacy of one’s exclusive abode.

5 Must Haves
Following the standard for all Avida condominium developments, Avida Towers Cebu has the “5 Must Haves” that create the ideal quality living experience for its residents. All units are fitted with large windows that allow fresh air to circulate freely and lets in maximum natural illumination. This is good for the occupants’ health, and also creates a light and optimistic atmosphere inside the unit.

Both towers also have fewer units per floor to prevent crowding and ensure privacy. The towers’ amenities are designed for practicality and for minimal maintenance cost—something that will greatly benefit homeowners in the long-run.

There is also emergency power available inside each unit—not just in the common areas—so that the residents’ living convenience and security are ensured even during brownouts.

Finally, all these features and amenities are availed of through easy and flexible payment terms. All these five condo “Must Haves” add up to an ideal living experience that only Avida provides.

Long-term best value

According to Tanco, the sellout of Avida Towers Cebu is also an indication of the growing sophistication of Cebu’s real estate market.

“Buyers in Cebu now have a deeper understanding and appreciation for investing in condominium development in a central, urban area. Condo living has become a viable option as it allows residents to have easy access to places that matter. In addition, they see the affordability, quality and practicality of such investments as a source of benefit in the long term,” he said.

Given the overwhelming positive response from Cebuanos, Avida discloses that the company is exploring more developments in the city.

Tanco also pointed out that the Cebu market is a perfect fit for Avida, as it is comprised of the “the practical rich,” which she explains as those who see Avida’s thrust of providing “affordable” as something that would result in the best return and value for money in the long run.

Avida Towers Cebu is a joint venture project of Avida and Asian I Office Properties. After its launch in June 2010, it nearly sold out the 518 units of the first tower in a mere three months. This prompted the early launch of the 527-unit second tower in October of the same year. The two towers have more than a thousand units with prices ranging from P1.7M to P4.2M. Studio, 1-Bedroom and 2-Bedroom units were offered with monthly amortization starting at P13, 600.
Avida Land Corp. is the affordable property developer of Ayala Land, Inc. True to its brand promise of providing quality homes at affordable prices for the successful Filipino middle class, in the past 21 years, Avida Land has successfully developed 40 house and lot, and condominium projects in 18 different locations around the Philippines. Asian I Office Properties (AIO) is a subsidiary of Cebu Property Ventures and Development Corporation, which owns and manages Asiatown I.T. Park.

Building on the heritage of superb quality from the country’s biggest and most trusted developer that is Ayala Land, Avida Towers Cebu, which is envisioned to be the best in its class, will be managed and maintained by Ayala Property Management Corporation.
***
All Avida Towers are planned and built with the five condo must-haves in mind: free-flowing air and sunlight, fewer units per floor, sensible amenities, emergency power even inside your unit, and easy payment terms. With quality that is sure to last, An Avida home is a must-have. For more info on Avida Towers Cebu, please call 032-5142322/ (02) 848-5200 or visit www.avidaland.com

Wonderful Voice of Tria Bascon

Let's get to know more about Tria Bascon, a remarkable jazz singer with a sultry voice.

Coming from a very musical family it was only natural that Tria would start singing at an early age. Her father and older siblings were already well known in the music business in Cebu in her native Philippines.

After gaining a degree in Business Administration, Tria was spotted singing in a restaurant/jazz lounge and this started her professional singing career.  The early influences in her style and range were renowned International vocalists of jazz, standards and pop, which led her to appreciate and develop such a wide range of musical genres.

In order to gain greater experience and exposure, Tria then moved to Manila and launched what has become a very successful career.  Since those days Tria has travelled far and wide for both pleasure and in pursuit of her work.

Her travels have taken her to virtually all Continents of the World adding greatly to her experience both as a vocalist and as a person, and she now spends her non working leisure time between the US and UK, as well as in her native Philippines.

She has entertained audiences on luxury cruise liners as well as in 5 star hotels of Asia, Europe, North America and Australasia. She has performed in far reaching and exotic places in the South Pacific, such as French Polynesia, Fiji Islands and The Kingdom of Tonga.

A wonderful, smooth and powerful voice is complemented by her natural beauty and graceful elegance, which captures an audience with her remarkable presence. With such an impeccable style, Tria’s performances ensure that a warm, intimate ambience is always present and enhances both the sound and vision experience to the full.

It is fair to say that her ideal choice of music is mainstream jazz, but great versatility enables her to equally perform and feel at home with Pop, Blues, Broadway, Country, Dance, and standard Ballads with a repertoire that spans seven decades of music.

Extensive travel has assisted Tria in learning to sing in many different languages, enabling her to entertain and charm multicultural audiences in Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Indonesian, Tahitian as well as her native Filipino tongue.

Tria launched her first album, a jazz album called Wanderlust in January 2012, a fulfillment of a long held dream. The dream being to make a very professional, quality album featuring classic jazz songs and performed along with renowned international Musicians.

As the choice of title suggests, the tracks selected for the Album readily affirms the life that Tria has experienced and enjoys whilst allowing her to sing in several languages having appeal to a global audience.

The tracks, personally selected by Tria, are from a list of her long time favorites and she is accompanied by several well known vocalists and musicians from Asia and Europe. The featured artistes are Moreno Donadel, an Italian jazz/classical pianist, Asia’s premiere vocal group The CompanY, renowned Filipino songwriter and crooner Jose Mari Chan and Aquarela, a bossa/latin group.

The Album contains an original track, Magkikita Pa Rin Naman Tayo, a very melodic and moving song written specially for Tria by the Producer of the Album, Moy Ortiz of the The CompanY.

In between continuing to perform internationally in shows, concerts and gigs, Tria has plans for new Albums, which will further add to her reputation as a very talented, beautiful vocalist with a mesmerizing and distinctive voice.
