Anthony William "Tony" Greig was born on October 6, 1946 in South Africa.

He was a cricket player who captained the English Test cricket team and later became known for his work as a commentator.

After forming a bond with the Nine Network's Kerry Packer during the World Series Cricket days, Greig was offered a "job for life" by Packer as a commentator during Nine's cricket coverage.

Tony Greig died on December 29, 2012 at the age of 66 from a heart attack battling lung cancer.
