According to Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, music is the universal language of mankind. It cuts across boundaries of age, race, culture, and geography. A song from one country can be received and appreciated in another even if one cannot understand its lyrics; just like how Korean songs are well enjoyed here in the Philippines. It is through music where one can express himself without the need for a proper language.
The Inter-Country Adoption Board (ICAB), the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and McCann Worldgroup recently launched the adoption advocacy campaign entitled “Love Sees Beyond Differences” with the song, “I Love You Anak.” Multi-awarded singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid is the voice behind the song. “I'm glad that they've used music as a kick-off for the campaign because music is very powerful,” Alcasid said.
Alcasid added that the advocacy campaign is important for him because it is through adoption that his US-based sister would get the opportunity to build her family. He shared during the launch of “Love Sees Beyond Differences” that his sister and her husband wishes to adopt a Filipino child. The opportunity came when Alcasid himself met Cecile Gabutina-Velez, Managing Partner in McCann Philippines, during an event for 4A’s (Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies).
“We have long sought to undertake a communications campaign give a new, more relevant perspective about legal adoption. Now, the Department, together with ICAB and McCann Erickson has finally made this possible,” says DSWD Secretary Dinky Soliman..”
According to Raul Castro, McCann Worldgroup executive chairman, “This campaign on adoption is enabled by a team who commits to the advocacy on a personal level. Many wanted to get involved in the creative work, which aligns with our desire as a company to positively impact on lives.
