A lot of devout Catholics awaiting Blessed Pedro Calungsod's canonization tomorrow, October 21. He will be the second Filipino saint, after Lorenzo Ruiz was canonized in 1987.
Vice President Jejomar Binay with 5,000 Filipino pilgrims and other spectators will witness the canonization rites.
In a post on Binay's Facebook page said: "The presence of the thousands of Filipinos here and the millions more around the world who are eagerly awaiting Blessed Calungsod's canonization as the second Filipino saint reaffirms our faith as a nation."
"I hope his dedication and sacrifice will serve as an example for the Filipino youth to emulate,” said Binay. President Benigno Aquino III tasked Binay to lead the delegation.
They will attend the Mass at Saint Peter’s Square that start the canonization rites for Calungsod and six others.
A procession of the new saints’ icons will be held at the Chiesa di Santa Pudenziana in the evening.
Calungsod’s image will return in Cebu City before the November 30 thanksgiving Mass which marks his sainthood.
