Actress Iza Calzado has refuse to receive talent fee for her first indie film.

Calzado said she and co-star Judy Ann Santos declined to be paid for their roles in "Mga Mumunting Lihim," which is an entry to the 2012 Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival.

"Hindi talaga kami sumingil, for the love of Cinemalaya, for the love of direk, at kumbaga suporta," she told ABS-CBN News.

The Jose Javier Reyes-directed film is Calzado's first venture into the annual independent film festival.

"Kauna-unahan kong pelikula sa Cinemalaya, kaya masaya ako, excited ako na maging bahagi nito. At syempre mas masaya ako dahil ang mga kasama ko sa pelikula ay mahuhusay na aktres na ... I think si Juday first niya rin 'to sa Cinemalaya," she said.

Aside from Santos and Calzado, "Mga Mumunting Lihim" also stars Janice de Belen and Agot Isidro. The four play a group of friends who face struggles in their relationship with one another.

"It's also Direk Joey's first Cinemalaya," Calzado said of the film, "And it's a script that's very personal to him, so it's an honor to play the part of Carla."

"Mga Mumunting Lihim" is set to compete in the Director's Showcase category of the Cinemalaya film festival, which will have a 10-day run at the Cultural Center of the Philippines from July 20-29.
