ER Ejercito Dismayed Over The MMFF 2011 Results

Laguna Governor and MMFF 2011 Best Supporting Actor ER Ejercito was dismayed over the result of the Best Performing Actor category during the 37th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Awards Night.

His award-winning MMFF entry "Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story" bagged 11 trophies during the awards night.  He said he was hopeful to win the Best Actor award.


He quoted, "Sumablay yung isa eh. Sabi kasi ni Kris Aquino eh pag wala daw si Dingdong (Dantes) at hindi siya nanalong Best Actor eh... Sa tingin ko eh merong magic," ER said.

Dingdong won the Best Actor title for Star Cinema movie "Segunda Mano", which he co-starred with Kris Aquino and Angelica Panganiban.

Gov. ER also said all their hard work paid off because the movie got almost all the technical and major awards. He added that it took them nine months and 40 shooting days to come up with this kind of film.

"Because of my busy schedule as governor of Laguna and also because of the weather, hindi rin naman nagtipid yung producers ko kaya we really made a good film," ER said.

He is looking forward to exhibit "Manila Kingpin" abroad, most especially in the United States.

ER also reacted on the Best Director title, which during the awards night was credited to a certain Gary dela Cruz, who according to ER is one of their assistant directors.

Though Tikoy Aguiluz was not named as the Best Director award, ER said, the trophy will still be given to the former.

"Kay Direk Tikoy talaga yun. Nagtampo lang yun kasi binago namin yung editing. Kasi there's a criteria na bawal baguhin yung istorya. So we have to re-edit na naayon dun sa original script namin."

ER added that he is still hoping that Aguiluz will direct his next movie "El Presidente" with Superstar Nora Aunor in February 2012

Today is Rizal Day | Remembering Our National Hero

Today is December 30, the day when Jose Rizal was shot in Bagumbayan.

He became Philippine`s National Hero because of his martyrdom to save our country from the colonic hands of the Spaniards. He was a great influence to his countrymen, and he is also recognized all over the world because of his being multiskilled and intelligent personality.
He was a good example to the youth, the history tells the story of his life emphasizing the life of being a good citizen. 

Now that he is dead for a very long time, Filipinos commemorates him by celebrating Rizal day every 30th day of December. This is an official legal holiday. Despite of the many personalities who also became a hero icon like him, some were dead already, some were still alive, he is still the most important among all. One proof is - his picture is the most printed thing in t-shirts and bags. Specially his headshot, for sure he feels so happy because he is remembered in this way. 
 
The most significant park in the Philippines is a tomb of a National Hero. Rizal Park is named after a great doctor, a famous revolutionary and our National Hero Dr. Jose P. Rizal.

Gary V At Eastwood City Countdown To 2012

Confirmed: Tyron Perez Is Dead

Actor Tyron Perez (born Jojo Perez) was found dead inside a vehicle in Valenzuela City earlier this evening.  He was 26.


  Reports say that the apparent cause of Tyron Perez' death was suicide. He was found in his car, with gunshot in his head. 
 
 Senior Inspector Arthur Quinones of Valenzuela City police said that the investigators of Scene of the Crime Operative (SOCO) saw one bullet at the right side of Tyrone's head. 



  Tyron Perez started his showbiz career as a member of MSP Teenstars of "Walang Tulugan with the Master Showman." He then joined GMA-7's reality star search "Starstruck", along with Jennylyn Mercado and Mark Herras.  He has a movie,Twilight Dancers in 2006 wherein he plays the role of a macho dancer.

Proceeds Of MMFF 2011's Segunda Mano For Sendong Victims

In her efforts to help the families in Mindanao who were stricken by tropical storm Sendong, the sister of President Noynoy and Queen of All Media, Ms. Kris Aquino said that she and her “Segunda Mano” co-star and co-producer Dingdong Dantes will share a percentage of the movie’s proceeds from the opening day to the victims of Sendong.
 
Both stars made the announcement  last Saturday, Dec. 24 at the Quirino Grandstand during  the Metro Manila Film Festival Parade of Stars.
 
“Habang nagpaparada po kami, napag-isipan namin ni Dong na ang  porsyento ng kikitain namin sa opening day—kasi di ba nire-review naman kaagad yan ng Metro Manila Development Authority right away. So, yung share po namin, ang porsyento po noon ay ibibigay namin sa Mindanao,” Kris said while onstage.

E.R. Ejercito Crying Foul About MMFF 2011

Laguna governor E.R. Ejercito is crying foul about what happened to his movie.  And he says that his Metro Manila Filmfest entry, “Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story” was shown in only 17 theaters instead of 51 cinema houses when it opened nationwide last Christmas Day.

“Nasabotahe kami,” as he told the press after the first day of MMFF 2011 showing of the seven entries.

“SQ Laboratories owned by a certain Angelo Santos, signed a laboratory certificate stating that the prints will be done by Dec. 23.  This certificate was submitted to the Metro Manila Film Festival committee. But the complete prints were submitted in the afternoon of Dec. 25. Ngayon he’s saying that there was a miscalculation,” E.R. continues.

The star of “Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story” star remains unconvinced, however.

“Napakababaw ‘nun.  Hindi niya na-justify ng maayos kung bakit hindi natapos ang prints.  Now he’s saying na inuna nya yung sa malalaking productions,” E.R. points out.

The Laguna governor adds that the prints of the film were submitted way ahead of the other MMFF entries, so he doesn’t understand why the complete number of prints were not released on time.

Despite this, E.R. cites reports reaching him that the film about notorious gang leader Nicasio ‘Asiong’ Salonga” is earning well in the 17 theaters where it is currently showing.

“It grossed P3-M in 17 theaters.  We could have earned P20-M on the first day kung kumpleto ang prints.  Kung patas ang laban,” he reveals.

Contacted for comments, Maylyn Enriquez, supervising producer of Scenema Concept International, producer of the film, issued the following statement:

“We contracted SQ Laboratories to be the supplier for the prints. We both agreed to have the prints ready by December 23 in time for logistics of the materials for the December 25, 2011, which is the first day of MMFF screening. However, due to their load with other 4 more festival entries, we were the least priority and last to be printed. To my dismay, the laboratory misinformed us about the completion of the prints, and the last minute transfer of laboratory was necessary to produce as many prints as possible. Unfortunately, despite the delivery of the prints to the theaters, the cinemas have already replaced our theater with another movie. This is already beyond our control.”

MMFF 2011 | First Day Of Screening Results A Success

Every year, Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2011 movies opened in various cinemas around the country on Christmas Day.  And even MMDA Chairman, Francis Tolentino watch "Segunda Mano". He seated on the floor when he watched it. The day after the Parade of Stars, the spontaneous feedback from moviegoers which among the seven films are frenzied over. 


According to Queen of All Media, Ms. Kris Aquino, starred in the MMFF entry "Segunda Mano", the following are the early leaders in the MMFF 2011 box office tally:

Shake, Rattle and Roll float

    As the recent concluded Metro Manila Film Festival 2011 Parade of Stars, the star-studded event with wonderful floats of seven MMFF entries. It started around 2 pm from SM Mall of Asia to Quirino Grandstand. The floats of Asiong Salonga, Panday 2 and My Househusband didn't make it to Luneta due to traffic and a lot of people interrupted en route to Quirino Grandstand.

Gandiva Café and Archery Range | Bloggers Night and Wellness Fair

It was a fun filled evening as Gandiva Café and Archery Range held its first ever Bloggers’ Night and Wellness Fair last December 09, at the 7F One Corporate Centre Bldg., Julia Vargas St., cor. Meralco Ave., Ortigas, Pasig City. Gandiva Café and Archery Range invited well-known bloggers to a night of fun events, games, and the launch of the brand’s main marketing campaign to promote a healthy lifestyle thru healthy vegetarian food and sports like archery.

Registration began at 4:30 in the afternoon, followed by an hour of fun exciting events such as the discussion about vegetarianism, archery and yoga.     

At 6:00pm, the program proper began with a welcome message from Glenn Mayhew, General Manager of Gandiva Café and Archery Range, followed by Chef Lali Balagtas; who talked about the history and programs of Gandiva Cafe. Following them were Sati Romero, professional yoga instructor who gave a talk about yoga. She was followed by Kris Chua, director of the Suspended Animation who gave a testimonial about the benefits of being a vegetarian and lastly by Marti Bismark, Compound Archer who delivered the topic about Gandiva Archery, benefits and programs.
The night wrapped up with performances from National Yoga Club and Fun Shoot. It was one grand party as audience members left the venue with wide smiles, laughs and feeling the love.

Sitti's Concert For The Benefit Of Sendong Victims

The country's Bossa Nova Queen Sitti will stage a concert next week for the benefit of the victims of tropical storm "Sendong."

Sitti said her concert will be held on December 29 at the Music Museum.

"It's called MRS: Most Requested Sitti. Initially, it was just supposed to be a show for the fans. But in light of all that happened with typhoon Sendong and all the victims in Cagayan de Oro, in Iligan and Dumaguete [I decided to hold the concert for them]. I wanted to give all the proceeds of the show to the typhoon victims," she said.

Part of the show as guest performers are Duncan Ramos, Whipflash, Brigada and Concert King Martin Nievera.

"I just really wish for all of us, especially those who are affected by typhoon Sendong, na I hope you guys would not lose hope and always pray and never forget that God loves you and God is always with us," Sitti said.

Jericho Rosales Celebrates 15th Year Anniversary With Benefit Concert For Sendong Victims

Actor-singer Jericho Rosales is celebrating his 15th year anniversary in show business today (December 23) with a benefit concert for victims of tropical storm "Sendong."

The free concert "Kinse (Labinlimang Taon ni Jericho Rosales)" will be held at the Ampitheater Riverbanks Center in Marikina. The show is Rosales' way to help raise funds for Sendong victims.

In his official Twitter account, Rosales invited everyone to come and watch the show and bring donations in cash or in kind for Sendong victims in Mindanao.

"Pls bring donations in cash or kind to KINSE! Shining light Foundation and Operation Blessing Booths will be located at the site. #echokinse #echokinseforCDO," Rosales said.

The show will also feature guest performances by Gary and Gabriel Valenciano and other surprise guests.

In a recent interview, Rosales said he's just thankful for all the blessings that God has given him.

Rosales is now preparing for his up-coming television series with Piolo Pascual and Christopher de Leon.
