A successful opening of Kapuso Foundation's Celebrity ukay-ukay

The first Kapuso Foundation Celebrity Ukay-Ukay called The Heatwave Summer Bazaar opened April 15 at The World Trade Center. It's a three-day event for a cause led by celebrity couple Ogie and Regine Alcasid who invited their celebrity friends to donate their pre-owned belongings for the auction. As early as today Celebrity Ukay-Ukay items were already sold out, top on the list was Chris Tiu's autographed pair of basketball shoes and Marian Rivera's elegant dress. But there's still a new set for the Auction which happens from 11 am-4 pm.

This 3 day event was attended by GMA COO Mel Tiangco, Exec. Dir. Henry Perez, Ogie Alcasid, Jolina Magdangal, Julie Ann San Jose, La Diva Trio Aicelle Santos, Maricris Garcia and Jonalyn Viray. Addition to the line up is Pinoy Idol grand winner and singer Gretchen Espina who invited most of her friends and fans to come and go here.

Among the celebrities who donated their belongings were La Diva, LJ Reyes and a lot more.

Ways you can help GMA Kapuso Foundation:

• Go there and pay the entrance fee for 50 pesos. 100% goes to the foundation.
• Buy celebrity items from the auction. 100% goes to the foundation.
• Buy items from exhibitors. 50% goes to the foundation.

*Just a tip, come early to be the first in line, we saw the line it was really long.

Pinoy Idol Gretchen Espina helped out in spreading the word to her friends and fans through online and SMS.

All proceeds will be given to the Kapuso School Development Project (KSD) of GMA Kapuso Foundation, Inc. Funds from this event will be used for the construction of 50 classrooms in poor and remote communities all over the country.

Ogie Alcasid's Pogi shirt was one of the earliest auction items that was sold.

We were able to witness how LJ Reyes iniatiated the selling of auction clothes of her fellow Kapuso Stars. "Nagbigay din ako ng 2 pairs of shoes, marami na kasi akong sapatos sa bahay kaya naisip ko na ibigay na lang sa Kapuso Foundation para maibenta. Masaya ako kasi alam ko nakakatulong ako maski maliit na bagay." LJ shares.

We were able to have a small chika with the trio and they were awesome. Above all they were very happy because aside from singing 2 songs they also donated some items for the bazaar. 

Jonalyn: "Nakapagdonate ako ng tatlong damit at isang pangkulot ng hair..(smiles)"

Aicelle: "Anytime basta para sa GMA Kapuso Foundation nakahanda kaming tumulong."

Maricris: "Nakakaloka ang dami daming tao talaga. Sabi kanina ni Sir Henry hindi nila inaasahan na ganon ang magiging response ng mga tao. Naubos agad yung mga items sa Ukay Ukay."(laughs)
