- Last semester it was a requirement for our Speech Comm class to watch the play Orosman at Zafira in UP Theater in connection with our topic non verbal communication. A few days from now it will be shown at the SM Mall of Asia centerstage. Here's my reaction paper where I got a grade of 1.5 from my professor Ms. Amella Bersalona
*The way Dexter Santos directed and choreographed the dance shows different body motions, and these body motions although originally created still serve as a language , each movement is dynamically adapted with the settings.
It's confusing when it comes to the physical characteristics of the
main cast: the girls would look like each other and then the males do the same. They have the same body shape, same hair style, same way of speaking.
This shows a lot of non verbal comm but touching was the most emphasized. Touching means a lot, the way they hold hands, the way they kiss , the way they hug , makes the story easy to understand. That touching is something you do out of love, or something you make to create interest.
I think that the director was able to preserve the way Balagtas wrote the play. The way the lines were said makes it more classic. Each line's intensity connotes a feeling , which I can say it is essential, although it was hardcore deep tagalog yet it was pleasing to hear and understand.
With the way the dance was executed , distance was very crucial. From one movement to another it does interpret a message.*
