Original Rivermaya vocalist-composer Bamboo Manalac was gone after leaving Rivermaya. There were rumors and fame issues with co band member Rico Blanco. After disappearing to the music scene, he returned forming a new band having his name also as the bands name Bamboo. Filipinos appreciated the same way before, it was the same rock energy everytime he performs. They became an international hit.
But this time seems over, “This is not goodbye,” last few words from him.
As the Rock band Bamboo officially announced through a message in their website that their band is OVER.
They have been 8 years in the industry before the band decided to break up for good reasons according to Bamboo Maňalac, leader of the group and former vocalist of Rivermaya.
“We’ve learned that this journey is not only about us but includes all who came along for the trip. Family, friends and of course front row believers who were there for the best reason of all. To simply listen. So it didn’t come easy winding down to this decision,” Maňalac mentioned in the message.
“This is not the end,” assured Mañalac. “We move forward for all the right reasons. This is not a sad day. Music will forever be part of our lives and I couldn’t imagine us simply walking away. Not possible. All I see are possibilities.”
The band started in 2002 and put it down in the opening of 2011 after establishing a career in the industry and releasing 4 major successful albums: As the Music Plays (2004), Light Peace Love (2005), We Stand Alone Together (2007), and Tomorrow Becomes Yesterday (2009). They also received different awards from AWIT Awards, NU107 Rock Awards, and MTV Pilipinas 2004.
At the end of his message, he thanked all their supporters, the brave producers who trusted the group according to him, and their business partners especially music distributors EMI and PolyEast Records.
