The Curious Case of Hubert Webb

I remember  the days when I spend much time watching TV , it was my daily habit. That was the time of that breaking news that shocked the whole nation - the Vizconde massacre. When the wife and two daughters of Lauro Vizconde was murdered. Hubert Webb and his friends were the suspects. It became the talk of the town specially the involvement of the most influential families in the field of politics, law and business.

All the while I thought that the Vizconde Massacre case was already  solved , but all of a sudden it was re-opened . As far as I know the primary suspect Hubert Webb was imprisoned as well as the other suspects. A few days ago I accidentally saw it in the TV and the case was brought up again by different media organizations.

After two decades Hubert Webb is now asking the Supreme Court to acquit him. He is contesting NBI to produce the missing DNA test, which he believes can release him from jail, I think not. If there is no way for the NBI to produce the missing DNA test, I think The Supreme court should set a timeframe for the sake of both party. For example setting a deadline in favor of both sides, If NBI could not produce the DNA test after the deadline, at least give justice for Hubert Webb on the part where he claims that he never did the rape thing.

As far as I know he was imprisoned because there were enough evidences that he was part of the murder. And so the only concern of his insisting for the DNA test would make him prove that he never raped Carmela Vizconde.

I think that If Hubert Webb proves that he never did rape Carmela then he can’t be accused for rape.
But if he was part of the murder, he still deserves to remain in jail and get punished.
