One Night Only

Labels: 1 Night Only, Alessandra De Rossi, Diana Zubiri, Jennylyn Mercado, Katrina Halili, Valerie Concepcion
Jennylyn Anne Pineda Mercado also known as Jennylyn Mercado (born May 15, 1987 in Las PiƱas City, Metro Manila, Philippines) is a Filipina actress and singer. She was the winner of the first season of StarStruck, a reality-based talent search show of GMA Network in the Philippines.
Synopsis
It all happened in one night.
Free- spirited and money hungry Jasmine (Katrina Halili) was all set to leave for Hong Kong with her new Chinese lover when her Congressman-benefactor Facundo (Ricky Davao) decided to have his return of investment. Forced to comply with a rather angry lawmaker, Jasmine had no other choice but to give in to the demands of this hot-blooded sponsor lest she be exposed for her frivolities.
Meanwhile, in a movie set, hunk actor Diego (Paolo Contis) was wrestling with a major issue involving a reporter named Meliton (Ogie Diaz) whom he beat up when the latter exposed his shady past. But this was really beyond Diego’s concerns for he had his eyes set on one of the talents on his set, a naive looking extra named Angela (Alessandra de Rossi). As he was manipulating events to get this girl in bed, he remained in touch with his best friend, Pons (Jon Avila).
Pons was a stud who worked as an advertising executive. And he too wanted to bed Vicky (Valerie Concepcion), a girl he met in Boracay. After spending so much on Vicky when they met on vacation, Pons realized that he was short-changed when she passed out on him. Unknown to the man, another girl-–Vivian (Diana Zubiri), a friend of Jasmine, was feeling guilty because she did not give in to the demands of Pons the night before when they went out on a date. So now she was determined to make appropriate amends.
The gay hairdresser of Facundo’s wife, Inday, was equally excited that day. Edward (Chokoleit) was a flamboyant beautician who was finally having his moment of truth with a man whom he has been taking care of for the past months. Edward mas madly in love with Nestor (Joross Gamboa) and this was the night that he will propose to him.
On the set where Diego was trying to get into the pants of Angela, the supervisor of the talents was a bull dyke named George (Manilyn Reynes). She was carrying on an affair with the make-up artist named Elvie (Jennylyn Mercado). Elvie, who happens to be the cousin of Vicky, wanted to end this relationship because she wanted to live a normal life. And this sent the lesbian’s world crashing.
Because of certain twists and turns and circumstances, all these characters ended up in the same motel called Lover’s Hideaway.
What happened was a night of chaos and confusion. What transpired for the next twelve hours would forever be part of their lives…and trauma.
Iskul Bukol
Synopsis
Considered to be one of the most popular and trend-setting sitcoms in the history of Philippine television is Iskul Bukol. A certified ratings champion, the show that tackled the intricacies of college life became a staple in millions of Filipino households on Tuesday evenings from 1978-1987.
Whenever Iskul Bukol is mentioned, what automatically come to mind are Wanbol University and the zany characters populating it. There is Victor Ungasis, the good-looking, kind and brainy teacher’s pet, Tito and Joey Escalera, the class bullies who always pick on Vic, Miss Tapia, the university’s resident professor who has a crush on Joey, Bibeth, Vic’s opinionated friend, Mang Temi, the operator of the school cafeteria, Tonette Macho, the gay student who befriends the fairest girl in class and Joey Anson, the campus darling who is the apple of Vic’s eye. Every episode was simply a riot with the whole gang then.
Fast forward, 20 years later, Vic Ungasis is now an excellent History professor at Wanbol University and has also successfully ventured in the field of archaeology. His recent recovery of the Kali of Humabon opens a door to a mystery. He hopes to find next the Kampilan of Lapu-Lapu and be able to display the twin war relics, side by side. Actually, the Kampilan is in the hands of Shimata, a wealthy Japanese national whose main interest is the Peseta, which should be found in the Kampiian’s bracket. The Peseta is one of the few remaining 30 pieces of Judas’ silver, which gives immortality to whoever possesses it. Unfortunately, it’s missing when he fishes the Kampilan from the depths of the water.
Interestingly, the inscriptions on the Kampilan’s hilt when put side by side with the inscriptions on the Kali will point the way to the exact location of the Peseta. Shimata steals the Kali but it’s futile since he can’t decipher the inscriptions. When Vic went to Cambodia for a speaking engagement, he’ll discover secrets that are connected to the mystery, especially when he got to know the uncle and nephew Samnang and Woog who are being hunted by Shimata’s men. Does it have something to do with the Alibata inscription on Woog’s ass whose strokes are similar to the inscriptions on the stolen Kali? And why are Tito and Joey Escalera also hiding from Shimata? How will the whole gang be involved in the exciting but dangerous search for the all-powerful Peseta?
These are some of the questions to be answered in Iskul Bukol…20 Years After, which top bills the wacky trio of showbiz pillars Tito, Vic and Joey as they reprise their roles from their very successful boob tube show before. The project is special mainly because this is the first time that the formidable triumvirate is gracing the big screen again after almost two decades.
It’s also nice to see some of the original cast members relive their roles like Bibeth Orteza (as Bibeth), Jimmy Santos (as Big J), Mely Tagasa (as Miss Tapia) and Anthony Roquel (as Tonette Macho). What’s more exciting is that some of the industry’s brightest luminaries are lending their screen presence too for this grand project like Ryan Agoncillo, Carlene Agui!ar, Robert Villar, Francine Prieto, Keempee de Leon, Oyo Sotto, EB Babes and Benjie Paras. And since this is a reunion project, Megastar Sharon Cuneta has a special participation as Sharon Escalera, the younger sister of Tito and Joey in the story.
Iskul Bukol…20 Years After is an official entry to the forthcoming Metro Manila Film Festival. Written by Bibeth Orteza and directed by Tony Reyes, the film is touted to further solidify Vic’s hold as MMFF’s undisputed Box-office King for six straight years now. An ambitious project in terms of budget, casting and story line, three of the country’s major film outfits merged forces namely, Orly llacad’s OctoArts Films, Vic’s very own M-Zet TV Productions and Tony Tuviera’s APT Entertainment to make it a reality.

Dayo....Sa Mundo ng Elementalia
DAYO is Graded A by the Cinema Evaluations Board of the Film Development Council of the Philippines.
Rated G (General Patronage) by MTRCB
Endorsed by: Dep Ed and National Council for Childrens Television
Even before Dayo sa Mundo ng Elementalia hits the cinemas on December 25, it has already registered a lot of firsts for the Philippine movie industry. It is touted as the first Filipino film to be produced in Dolby 7.1 and the first Pinoy movie to collaborate with Technicolor Motion Picture Corporation.
Dayo is poised not only as a feast to the eyes but will seek to establish a deeper connection with the audience through its music.
Jessie Lasaten, multi-awarded film music composer and executive producer of Dayo, weaves magic by complementing the digital animated film with an ensemble of an all-Filipino musical talent and the use of indigenous instruments. Providing for a multi-sensorial treat to audiences of all ages, Dayo's soundtrack highlights the rendition of world-renowned performer Lea Salonga of the movie's theme song, "Lipad." Her version of "Lipad" and the whole film score were recorded together with the FILharmoniKAunder the baton of Gerard Salonga.
It will be recalled that Lea had already lent her singing voice to Mulan and Princess Jasmine of Aladdin, both from Walt Disney. Lea's track will accompany the first flight of Bubuy (voiced over by Nash Aguas) and Anna manananggirl (voiced over by Katrina Legaspi). "Lipad is a song about believing in dreams and making them come true," explains Jessie who collaborated with Temi Abad, Jr. in writing the lyrics.
"Kaya mong lumipad," is a line from the movie's theme song. It speaks of an aspiration to soar and at the same time, talks about the readiness to reach new heights.
Aside from Lea's inspirational version, upcoming band Roots of Nature sang an upbeat version of "Lipad." This is currently being played on airwaves under the Sony BMG label.
Youtube sensation and Bubble Gang mainstay Moymoy Palaboy and Roadfill also perform "Kapit," a song about friendship. The two are already signed up with Sony BMG and they are slated to come out with their album soon. The 25-year old Moymoy (whose real name is James Obeso) used to be a vocalist for the band Pashionista, which is now based in Singapore. His brother Roadfill (whose real name is Rodfil Obeso) is two years younger and used to work for a telecommunications company. During the December 11 press conference of Dayo sa Mundo ng Elementalia, the two performed their song "Kapit" while the music video of the song was shown on a big screen above them.
New band Juan Lunar performed "Daybreak," a song about being there for someone when they need you most.
Jessie narrates their efforts to come up with the movie's full soundtrack, which contains 31 tracks.
"We have music that combines full orchestral instrumentation with the ethnic instruments of Joey Ayala. I've composed new themes for the major characters. In terms of scoring the scenes, I've combined orchestral score with Filipino ethnic instruments especially when Bubuy enters Elementalia. We asked Joey to sing theElementalia Dayo song as well as have him perform his 'hegalong,' a two-string lute instrument. He also played kubing (jaw harp), kulintang (ethnic gong), and nose flute which added texture to the score in the Elementalia scenes." This multi-faceted musical scoring will guarantee to carry the viewers from one scene to the next, bridging animation and real life.
Dayo's original soundtrack album is now available in record bars courtesy of Sony BMG. It is being sold at P285.
